IronHydra is our latest release for the Open Source community. It allows developers to run Python scripts or entire programs asynchronously and multi-threaded in vvvv. Python is one of the most popular programming languages in the world, it is used in websites, robotics and everything in between. vvvv on the other hand is tailored towards installations and high performance real-time motion graphics. Having the power of Python embedded in vvvv opens up a lot of possibilities.
IronHydra has been developed in theme with vvvv's ability to do real-time programming, once the script is ready it can be compiled on the fly through vvvv's interface. The compiling process takes a few seconds, and then the new program is running in vvvv instantly. Asynchronous compiling has been made possible by the great Python .NET interface, IronPython (hence the name IronHydra: an iron reptile with multiple indestructible heads).
We look forward to seeing what developers use our open sourcing offering for. We'll be using IronHydra to speed up development for our experiences.
